So, there we were, charged with traveling to the bottom of the deep sea to enter a fortress that may be crawling with hostiles. After our druid dispatched some sharks to survey the area, we found the coordinates of the fortress. Unfortunately the area was blocked from teleport.

This made our mages consider the problem. Due to the depth (and hence pressure), they concluded that a simple polymorph into something aquatic would not suffice. After some consideration, they decided to make a Bathysphere (sans cable – one can always levitate up from the sea floor). To make it solid, it was decided to shape it from a single diamond. This required quite a bit of carbon, so our druid was distracted long enough that our pyromatic wizards could convert a whole forest into charcoal.

Now, our mages focused on getting down, so buoyancy was one of our enemies. Thus they made the Bathysphere almost completely solid. There were left just enough free space create a magic space (Leomund’s Magnificent Mansion) inside the diamond. In order to reduce friction, the hull of the Bathysphere was shaped like a sharp needle. This should make it plow downwards through the water with a minimum of fuss.

The only remaining thing to do was to enter our “ship” and teleport the Bathysphere to somewhere above the entrance to the fortress. Gravity should then finish the job for us. Now, we all agreed that a sensible approach to the destination of our teleport should be slightly over the sea level. However, the one responsible thought “that’s no fun”, and promptly teleported us 2km above sea level. We accelerated to a high speed before we hit the water and had enough speed when we hit the bottom to go through it! We ended up a couple of meters below the bottom, in the mud and clay. On the way down we briefly saw an army of aquatic elves, but that was not worth any xp by itself : /

Alright, so we levitated up and floated around a bit before a massive tentacle wrapped around us. The Kraken was there and it was angry! One of the mages turned the sphere around so that the sharp end pointed towards the head of the beast and let loose a sonic fireball in the exact opposite direction to launch the entire sphere _into_ the head of the Kraken! That didn’t kill it, so our aggressive wizard repeated the exercise, only this time backwards, thrusting the sphere out from the Kraken. The Kraken quickly swam away shortly after.
